The Swiss Family Robinson was a novel by Johann David Wyss. It was a very exciting story. The main characters were a mother and father and their four sons, Fritz, Ernest, Jack and Franz. The family decided to travel to a new country to live. They traveled on a ship with lots of other people, but there was a big storm. The ship sank, but the family swam to an island. There weren't ant other people on the island, so the family was alone.
they took things from the ship, such as clothes and tools, to help them start a new life. The family had lots of adventures on the island, and they learnt a lot of important lessons. The found out that the island had everything they needed to survive. First, they used wood from the trees to build a house in a tree. When the weather was cold and wet, they moved to a cave and made a home there.
The grew vegetables and fruits from seeds and they hunted animals for their meat. They used salt to keep their meat fresh for a long time, so they were never hungry. They cooked food on a fire and they used plants to make paper and clothes. They learnt a lot about nature and they enjoyed their life on the island. One day, they had the chance to leave the island and go home to Switzerland, but they decided that the island is their home now. They were happy with their new life and they didn't want to leave.
